Environment Surrounding Investment in Solar Power Generation Facilities

Japan's solar power generation industry, which grew rapidly due to the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme, is expected to continue growing after the end of the FIT scheme, with the introduction of the FIP scheme (under which a fixed premium is added to the market price) and the spread of the PPA model under which a power generator and an off-taker such as a corporate entity conclude a power purchase agreement.

Mercuria Investment Group is involved in designing funds to meet needs in the various phases from solar power generation development to operation.

To be involved in Japanese solar power generation projects from the development phase and to expand the scope of investors, we collaborated with ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD., Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Ltd., Maiora Asset Management and other co-sponsors over the listing of ENEX INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CORP. on the infrastructure fund market newly established on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

We are contributing to the growth of the infrastructure market through initiatives such as the integration of solar power generation facilities that are among largest in Japan into ENEX INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CORP. We are also involved in the operation of a fund established for the primary purpose of purchasing power generation facilities from the secondary market and integrating them into ENEX INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT CORP., aiming for further external growth.

We have already begun investing in Taiwan where solar power generation development projects are currently being implemented with great urgency.
